The souls of Japanese artisans from a bygone era still live on Yamazaki’s production floor. This old-school knitting mill, nestled in the heart of Japan's denim region, is among the last of its kind. Technically speaking, everything here remains pre-digital. Circular knit machines buzz and whirr. Bobbins of waxed cotton are de-coned, each strand of yarn meticulously treated and brushed individually before being re-spooled for knitting. In short, Yamazaki is no run-of-the-mill mill. Mr. Yamazaki offers clients not just fabric, but an opportunity—to create garments on a foundation built by some of the greatest artisans in the world.
